Spell Mastery
Practice your spells. Build their mastery. Each spell has its own XP and level, saved separately for every character.
How to earn spell XP
- Successfully cast a spell or use a rune outside a protection zone to earn 1 XP for that spell.
- Each spell can earn XP at most once per second. XP is per cast, not per target hit or point of damage or healing.
- Failed casts, protection-zone casts and casts during excluded events do not award XP. Staff spell-check bypasses and infinite-mana characters are also excluded.
- Healing, support and conjuration spells can earn XP too. Each spell's progress belongs to your character and is saved between sessions.
Your first spell level takes 3,400 eligible casts. Casting Exura earns Exura XP; it does not level up your other healing spells.
What changes as a spell levels up?
Direct-damage spells
Eligible spells gain +0.2% direct damage and +0.2% mana cost per spell level, up to +10% at level 50.
Mana is rounded down after equipment cost reductions. Runes that normally cost no mana to use still cost no mana.
Healing & support spells
Gain mastery titles and casting effects, with no added healing or mana-cost change from the general mastery bonus.
Conjured quantities, field damage and condition damage do not receive this general bonus either.
Weapon attacks, summons and mana drain do not receive the spell damage bonus. After level 50, mastery continues for prestige; damage and mana scaling stay capped.
What about Qumora's existing custom spell upgrades?
Challenge, Whirlwind Throw, Party Haste, Divine Caldera and Energy Wave keep their existing special tier mechanics. Those tiers unlock at spell levels 25 and 50 and stop growing there. Previous practice counts keep their original XP conversion. All spell levels use the current, slower XP requirements.
Levels & mastery milestones
Level 50 takes 1,211,250 rewarded casts per spell. That is about 14 days of nonstop casting at one rewarded cast per second, or about 12 weeks at four hours a day. Cooldowns, mana limits and breaks can make it take longer.
These are cumulative XP totals for one spell. At 1 XP per eligible cast, total XP also shows the casts needed when starting from zero.
| Spell level | Total XP | Damage / mana* | Mastery title |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 0 | +0% | — |
| 1 | 3,400 | +0.2% | — |
| 25 | 340,000 | +5% | — |
| 50 | 1,211,250 | +10% (cap) | Adept |
| 75 | 3,506,250 | +10% | Expert |
| 100 | 7,926,250 | +10% | Master |
| 150 | 23,141,250 | +10% | Grandmaster |
| 200 | 46,856,250 | +10% | Legend |
*Damage and mana increases apply only to eligible direct-damage spells. Healing and other unscaled spells use the same XP milestones without these increases.
Each title milestone also unlocks a casting effect. Mastery effects can appear at most once every five seconds per character, and you can turn them off with the commands below. Levels continue beyond Legend.
How much XP does the next level need?
Below level 50: 170 × (20 + (5 × current spell level)) XP.
From level 50 onward: 170 × (300 + (20 × (current spell level − 50))) XP.
For example, level 0 to 1 needs 3,400 XP, level 1 to 2 needs another 4,250 XP, and level 50 to 51 needs another 51,000 XP.
Track your spells in the client
- Click the Spell Mastery spellbook button in the client toolbar.
- Open Choose spells, search by spell name or words, and click Track.
- Track up to eight spells. Each row shows an icon, level and XP progress toward the next level.
Hover over a spell for its total XP, mastery title and bonuses. Your selection is remembered for each world and character. You can move, resize or minimize the panel.
If the button is missing, use a Qumora client build that includes Spell Mastery. If the panel says mastery is unavailable, reconnect and use Refresh in Choose spells. The commands below also let you check your progress.
In-game commands
!spelllevels- Browse spell mastery for your vocation.
!spelllevels 2- View the next page of spells.
!spelllevels exura- Inspect a spell by its words. Spell names also work.
!spelllevels 2268- Inspect a rune by its item ID.
!spelllevels effects off- Turn your mastery casting effects off.
!spelllevels effects on- Turn your mastery casting effects back on.
!spellmastery works as an alias for !spelllevels.
The slower progression keeps previously earned XP. Existing spell levels and their bonuses are recalculated using these higher XP requirements.
